U.S. Air Force Expands Counterterrorism and Disaster Relief Efforts Across Africa

General James B. Hecker, Commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Africa, has reaffirmed America’s commitment to strengthening security partnerships and enhancing disaster relief cooperation across the continent. Speaking at the African Air Chiefs Symposium, Hecker emphasized the need for deeper collaboration between U.S. and African air forces to counter terrorist threats and respond to humanitarian crises effectively.

During the symposium, attended by top military officials from various African nations, Hecker outlined the U.S. Air Force’s strategy to support African allies in combating terrorism. He stressed that coordinated intelligence sharing, joint training programs, and rapid deployment capabilities are critical in addressing security challenges posed by extremist groups operating in regions like the Sahel, Lake Chad Basin, and the Horn of Africa.
