Education

On September 24, 2025, Nigeria’s government vowed to keep tuition free at all Federal Technical Colleges (FTCs).

It warned school leaders not to charge extra fees. This ensures every child can access technical education.

Minister’s Clear Rule

Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa shared the news on the ministry’s X page.

He said the government pays for everything, boarding, books, uniforms, medical care, and training.

“No one can add fees,” he warned.

Schools got official notices to follow this rule.

Report Bad Fees

Parents can report wrong charges. Call 0803 657 6733 or 0803 637 3796, or email tse@education.gov.ng.

Alausa urged quick reports to keep education free for all.

What Boarders Bring

Boarding students need to bring personal items like soap, bed sheets, rain boots, buckets, cutlasses, hoes, and one ream of A4 paper for signing up. The government covers all other costs.

Tinubu’s Big Plan

Alausa linked this to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. It focuses on technical skills to grow Nigeria’s strength.

“No kid should miss out because of fake fees,” he said.

Watching Schools Closely

The government set up systems to catch rule-breakers fast. Alausa asked everyone to help ensure FTCs train skilled students for Nigeria’s future.

Why It Matters

This policy builds a stronger Nigeria by giving kids the skills to succeed. It makes technical education a key part of the nation’s growth.
