Flamingos

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, sets off from Abuja early Wednesday, October 8. They head to Morocco for the 2025 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Under Head Coach Bankole Olowookere, the squad aims to build momentum ahead of the global showdown.

Camp and Friendlies in Casablanca

The team will base in Casablanca for initial training. They face two key friendlies there: New Zealand on October 10, then Paraguay on October 14. These matches sharpen their edge before the main event.

Relocating to Rabat

On October 15, the Flamingos shift to Rabat’s official FIFA hotel. All teams stay there during the tournament. This setup fosters focus as they gear up for group stage battles.

Group D Fixtures

In Group D, Nigeria meets Canada, France, and Samoa. Their opener against Canada kicks off October 19 at 8 p.m. Nigerian time. They face France on October 22 at the same time.

The Samoa clash closes the group on October 25 at 5 p.m. All games occur at the Football Academy Mohammed VI in Sale.

Unbeaten Streak Fuels Confidence

The Flamingos enter with strong form. In 10 recent tune-ups, they scored 44 goals and conceded none. Their balanced roster and camp success signal readiness.

Coach Olowookere targets a deeper run than their 2023 quarter-final exit in the Dominican Republic.

Aiming for Glory

With solid prep and firepower, the Flamingos seek World Cup success. Their Morocco campaign promises excitement for Nigerian football fans.
