The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, publicly congratulated Nigerian content creator Bemi Orojogun, known widely as “London Bus Aunty,” after she secured the prestigious Video of the Year award at the TikTok UK Awards 2025.
Khan took to his social media account to praise Orojogun, highlighting her visible enthusiasm for London’s iconic transit system. He noted that her passion for the city’s red buses “has captured hearts nationwide.”
Widespread Acclaim
The Mayor also added a specific note of appreciation: “And did you know? She’s a proud fan of the Bakerloop – London’s newest express bus route,” he wrote.
Orojogun competed against a strong field of content creators, including Sam Morris, Friends of Elmtree, Joseph Machines, Brad Ben, and the Gardiner Brothers, for the highly regarded award, which celebrates outstanding figures on the platform.
From Viral Clip to Brand Partnerships
Orojogun initially achieved massive digital fame in 2024 with a creative video clip utilizing forced perspective. She has since established herself as a significant digital influencer, securing major brand collaborations with companies like MAC Cosmetics, Burberry, and H&M.
Furthermore, she has partnered with the Mayor’s office itself to promote the rollout of London’s zero-emission buses. Her winning video has accumulated nearly 50 million views on the TikTok platform.
In her acceptance speech, Orojogun encouraged her audience to pursue their interests fearlessly. She advised: “Don’t allow your age to stop you. Don’t allow your family to say don’t do that, it’s embarrassing. If you love it, do it.”
Her fans were thrilled by the victory. Many Nigerians humorously challenged her online to recreate her signature video stunts in the famously busy, chaotic transit hubs of Lagos, such as Oshodi or CMS.
