A deadly terrorist assault has struck a church in Kwara State, Nigeria. Authorities confirmed that three worshippers are dead. Additionally, several others, including the presiding pastor, are missing.
The attack happened on the evening of Tuesday, November 18, 2025. It took place in Eruku town, within the Ekiti Local Government Area.
According to local reports, assailants stormed the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC). A meeting was in session at the time. upon entry, the gunmen reportedly opened fire immediately. Consequently, congregants scrambled for safety.
Service Turned into Tragedy
Eyewitnesses describe sudden brutality. Tragically, three worshippers died instantly inside the church premises.
Subsequently, the gunmen seized an unspecified number of survivors. The presiding pastor is among those abducted. Reports state that the attackers gathered the victims at gunpoint. They then marched them into the bush paths that connect Eruku to neighboring communities.
Town Under Siege
Violence also spread beyond the church. Reports indicate a coordinated attack that caused widespread panic across Eruku town.
Heavily armed men blocked major entry routes and fired sporadically. As a result, motorists on the Ilorin road abandoned their vehicles to flee into the bush.
A traveler returning from Federal Polytechnic, Bida, described the chaos. The witness stated that gunfire erupted while they were in transit. This forced everyone to scatter.
“The community is in chaos,” the witness stated. He called for immediate security intervention as gunshots echoed through the town.
Rising Insecurity in the Region
This incident marks another grim chapter for Kwara State. Recently, the region has become a flashpoint for banditry and terror attacks. Residents and religious centers are frequent targets.
The government has vowed to track down the perpetrators. However, the frequency of these attacks continues to alarm local communities.
