Peshawar

The morning routine in the bustling city of Peshawar was shattered on Monday. The sound of gunfire suddenly gave way to the deafening roar of explosives.

In a brazen assault, three suicide bombers targeted the headquarters of the Frontier Constabulary. This paramilitary base is located in a densely populated area of the city. In moments, the complex turned into a zone of chaos and carnage.

The Assault

The violence began at the main entrance. The attackers did not attempt to sneak in quietly. Instead, they forced their way through with guns blazing.

According to police, the assailants opened fire to breach the perimeter. Once inside the complex, they detonated their explosives.

The blasts killed three paramilitary personnel instantly. At least five others were wounded in the explosion.

A City in Lockdown

As smoke billowed from the compound, security forces reacted quickly. Army units and police swarmed the area. They immediately cordoned off the roads to traffic.

Authorities feared that more terrorists might be hiding deep within the headquarters.

“The road has been closed for traffic,” said Safdar Khan, a local resident. He watched as security personnel secured the perimeter.

Sirens wailed as ambulances rushed the wounded to the nearby Lady Reading Hospital. A hospital spokesperson confirmed they are treating the victims, including two paramilitary soldiers.

Rising Tensions

The dust is settling on Monday’s attack, but the tension remains high. This assault is the latest in a bloody chapter for the region.

Islamist militants have ramped up their activities in recent weeks. This follows deadly border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan last month. As authorities clear the debris in Peshawar, the attack serves as a grim reminder of the volatile security landscape.
