CANDIDACY

The head of Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva’s Workers Party, Edinho Silva, stated on Tuesday that it was difficult to take Senator Flavio Bolsonaro’s presidential bid seriously. This reaction followed the lawmaker’s suggestion that he might potentially withdraw from the race.

Workers Party Doubts Negotiation Talk

Silva specifically criticized the senator’s wavering stance. “No one launches a candidacy one day and the next day says, ‘look, I can negotiate.’ It’s not just me – no one would take it seriously,” Silva told reporters in Brasilia.

Flavio Bolsonaro’s Shifting Position

Flavio, the eldest son of jailed former President Jair Bolsonaro, initially announced his presidential bid on Friday, claiming his father’s support.

However, he later indicated that he might step down “at a price”. Despite these negotiations comments, Flavio ultimately reaffirmed his candidacy on Tuesday.
