Competing at the Chonburi Sports School, the Paris 2024 Olympic champion delivered a masterclass performance in the men’s 79-kilogram category.

A Record-Breaking Day

Rizki’s strength was on full display in the clean and jerk. He successfully lifted a massive 205 kilograms.

This incredible lift eclipsed his own previous world record of 204 kilograms, which he established just months earlier at the World Championships in October.

But he didn’t stop there. By combining this lift with a strong 160-kilogram snatch, Rizki achieved a monumental total lift of 365 kilograms.

This total set a new world record for the 79-kilogram class. It surpassed the previous benchmark of 362 kilograms, held by Egypt’s Abdelrahman Younes since the Islamic Solidarity Games last month.

Targeting Los Angeles 2028

For Rizki, the victory in Thailand is a critical milestone. The athlete stated that this latest achievement provides a significant morale boost as he looks toward the future.

“My goal is to be there at the 2028 Olympics. These Southeast Asian Games are a crucial step towards upcoming championships so that I can become even better,” Rizki said following his victory.

His performance today reaffirms his position at the pinnacle of the sport. He continues to build a legacy that already includes an Olympic gold medal from Paris.
