CAR

The Central African Republic has reached a major milestone ahead of the upcoming general elections.

On December 15, a massive shipment of sensitive electoral materials arrived in the capital, Bangui.

With the vote scheduled for December 28, 2025, officials received a total of 96 tonnes of supplies. This critical shipment includes ballot papers, vote tally forms, and other official documentation needed for the polls.

A Collaborative Effort

The materials were officially handed over during a ceremony in the capital. Mohamed Ag Ayoya, the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, presented the supplies to Mathias Barthélemy Morouba, President of the National Elections Authority.

Ag Ayoya praised the strong partnership between the local government and international partners. He highlighted that the government played a key role in financing the materials.

“This day is the result of very significant efforts made by the government of the Central African Republic,” Ag Ayoya stated. “It also reflects the efforts of the entire international community.”

Nationwide Deployment Plan

With election day just around the corner, the focus has shifted to distribution. The head of the National Elections Authority assured the public that supplies will reach every part of the nation on time.

“All this material will be dispatched across the entire territory,” Morouba confirmed. He promised that every city, municipality, and local office will receive the necessary items to distribute to polling stations.

Logistical Support

The distribution process relies heavily on MINUSCA, the UN peacekeeping mission in the country.

MINUSCA is providing essential security and logistics. This includes using aircraft and road transport to ensure materials reach even the most remote and hard-to-access areas.
