Feyi Daniels, the leader of a church in Lagos, has been sentenced to life in prison for raping a church member.
The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court announced the sentence on Friday, January 26.
According to local news, the victim, a 23-year-old woman, was Daniels’ assistant. Daniels is also the founder of “I Reign Christian Ministry.”
In addition, Daniels received a three-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting a 19-year-old female church member.
The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) stated that both sentences will run at the same time, and Daniels’ name will be added to the state’s Sexual Offenders Register.
The court’s decision marks a significant step in the fight against sexual violence in Lagos. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) emphasized the importance of holding offenders accountable, and the inclusion of Daniels’ name in the Sexual Offenders Register serves as a warning to others.
Community members and activists have praised the court’s ruling, expressing hope that it will encourage more victims to come forward and seek justice. The case also highlights the ongoing efforts by authorities to combat sexual violence and support survivors.
Daniels’ conviction sends a strong message that such crimes will not be tolerated, and that justice will be served, regardless of the perpetrator’s position or status.
