President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the appointment of several notable Nigerians as board chairpersons for federal agencies and parastatals. This major development, aimed at strengthening governance and driving efficiency, features prominent political figures, technocrats, and seasoned administrators.

Among the appointees are the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and former Minister of External Affairs, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi. Others include Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi and a host of other accomplished individuals. These appointments cut across various sectors, reflecting the administration’s focus on inclusive governance and leveraging expertise to deliver results.

Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, was appointed Chairperson of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), while Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi will oversee the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA). Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi was assigned as Chairperson of the National Tourism Development Corporation.

The appointments are part of President Tinubu’s broader strategy to rejuvenate federal institutions and ensure efficient service delivery. A statement released by the Presidency emphasized that these individuals were selected based on their track records, competence, and commitment to national development.

In response to the appointments, APC chieftain Awodeyi Akinsehinwa commended President Tinubu for recognizing the contributions and capacities of the appointees. He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by working diligently to meet the expectations of Nigerians.

This announcement comes amid increasing demands for reform and effective leadership in federal agencies and parastatals. The Tinubu administration continues to prioritize merit-based appointments as part of its efforts to fulfill campaign promises and drive national progress.

Stakeholders have lauded the appointments, noting that the diverse backgrounds of the appointees reflect a deliberate effort to ensure balanced representation and effective governance. The President urged all newly appointed chairpersons to work collaboratively with the boards and management of their respective agencies to deliver impactful results for the Nigerian populace.
