Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria (DPAN) has officially unveiled a new line of locally assembled Peugeot vehicles, marking a significant step in Nigeria’s automotive industry. The company, in partnership with Stellantis Group, has commenced the assembly of the Peugeot 3008 GT model at its Kaduna plant, reinforcing its commitment to boosting local car manufacturing.
The move is part of Dangote’s broader strategy to position Nigeria as a key player in Africa’s automobile sector. The newly assembled Peugeot 3008 GT features advanced technology, modern design, and fuel-efficient performance, catering to both individual and corporate buyers. Industry experts see this development as a boost for Nigeria’s industrialization efforts, reducing dependence on imported vehicles while creating jobs in the local economy.
Aliko Dangote, Chairman of DPAN, emphasized that the initiative aligns with the government’s push for local manufacturing and economic diversification. He highlighted the company’s goal of making high-quality, locally assembled vehicles accessible to Nigerian consumers. With a well-equipped assembly plant in Kaduna, DPAN aims to scale up production and introduce more Peugeot models in the coming years.
As part of its market expansion, Dangote Peugeot is strategizing to dominate Nigeria’s auto sector by increasing production capacity, improving affordability, and enhancing after-sales services. Analysts believe that sustained local vehicle production could significantly impact Nigeria’s economy, reducing car importation costs while fostering technology transfer and skill development.
The launch of these locally assembled Peugeot models signals growing confidence in Nigeria’s manufacturing capabilities. With government support and private sector investment, the country’s automotive industry could see substantial growth, positioning it as a regional hub for vehicle production.
