Moroccan athletes Youssef El Baz and Lamyaa Cherkab took top honors at the second “Darb Race” half-marathon. The event took place in Dar Bouazza and attracted a massive crowd.

Over 3,000 runners participated in the competition. The field included both professional athletes and amateur enthusiasts. Notably, the organizers made the race free for all attendees. This decision fostered a strong spirit of inclusivity and community.

Half-Marathon Results

Youssef El Baz secured first place in the men’s 21-kilometer main event. He delivered a commanding performance. Hassan Benbella followed in second place, while Mohamed Nait Ali finished third.

In the women’s category, Lamyaa Cherkab crossed the finish line first to claim the title. Kimberly Chriscaden took the runner-up spot, and Douss Bennani Sonia finished in third place.

El Baz reflected on his victory after the race. He noted that the event was an important part of his training schedule. Furthermore, he highlighted it as a crucial step for his future competitions.

Star Presence in the 10km Race

The shorter 10-kilometer event also drew significant attention. This was largely due to the participation of global track star Soufiane El Bakkali.

Adnane Mhamdi emerged victorious in the men’s category for the 10km race. On the women’s side, Rania Bassiri took first place. Bassiri expressed immense pride in her achievement following the win.

A Celebration of “Sea, Sun, and Run”

The event featured the theme “The Sea, Sun, and Run.” It was designed to highlight the scenic beauty of the Dar Bouazza coastline.

Ahmed Iraqui, President of the Darb Event, praised the organization of the race. He emphasized that the event successfully showcased local assets. He also noted the strong participation from the regional community.

Organizers provided extensive logistics for this second edition. This ensured a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone. The course was officially certified and featured well-stocked refreshment zones.

Additionally, the event offered entertainment stations and comprehensive medical support. A walking circuit was also available for visitors who wanted to enjoy the coastal views at a slower pace.

The day concluded with an awards ceremony. Local officials attended to celebrate the achievements of the top athletes.
