Aliko Dangote

On Monday, September 15, 2025, Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, unveiled 4,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) trucks in Lagos.

The launch took place at the Dangote Refinery. He used the occasion to refute allegations of monopolistic practices in Nigeria’s petroleum sector.

Investment in Logistics

Speaking at a press conference, Dangote revealed a ₦2 trillion investment in trucks and logistics. The new CNG fleet aims to stabilize fuel supply and ease transportation nationwide.

He emphasized job creation, noting, “These trucks have generated 24,000 jobs with salaries four times the minimum wage.”

No Monopoly Intentions

Dangote rejected claims of market control. “We’re not here to push anyone out,” he stated.

Instead, the company focuses on modernizing the industry. The group has acquired 10,000 trucks, including CNG and dry cargo carriers, with 10,250 expected to be operational by November’s end.

Future Plans and Innovations

Looking ahead, Dangote announced plans for electric vehicles by January 2026. This aligns with the refinery’s expanding production. He also praised Nigeria’s rising fertilizer output, calling it a national milestone. The group aims to drive industrial growth and energy innovation.

Fuel Distribution Begins

The CNG trucks started loading petroleum products on Monday for direct delivery to filling stations across Nigeria. The refinery received its first 4,000 CNG trucks in August 2025, marking the start of its fuel distribution program.

Dangote noted the group lifts 40,000 tonnes of diesel monthly and has exported over 1.6 billion liters of fuel.

Commitment to Nigeria’s Growth

Dangote stressed the company’s goal to reduce risks in Nigeria’s energy sector.

“We won’t be distracted by union noise,” he said. The focus remains on job creation, modernization, and positioning Nigeria as an energy hub.
