The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced a bold strategy to achieve total self-sufficiency in defense production. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Nigeria’s spending habits reached a critical point in late 2023. Specifically, the country spent more on armored vehicles than it did on petrol.

Surprisingly, armored vehicles accounted for nearly 36% of total imports during that period. By localizing production, the government hopes to conserve foreign exchange and create thousands of skilled jobs for Nigerian engineers.
