Royal Air Maroc is set to establish a historic aviation link. The airline will become the first carrier to operate direct flights between Africa and Los Angeles.
The new service originates from the carrier’s hub in Casablanca. It is scheduled to commence on June 7 next year.
The launch timing aligns perfectly with the upcoming FIFA World Cup. The inaugural flight takes off just days before the tournament begins on June 11. The United States, Mexico, and Canada will co-host the 2026 edition. Consequently, airlines expect a significant surge in transatlantic travel demand.
Expanding the North American Network
This route marks a significant milestone in the national airline’s expansion strategy. It complements an existing North American network. Royal Air Maroc already operates established connections to:
- New York
- Washington D.C.
- Miami
- Montreal
- Toronto
The service will operate three times a week. The airline will use Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft for these long-haul trips. Tickets for the new route officially went on sale on December 4.
A Strategic Hub for Global Connectivity
Planners designed the operational schedule to maximize connectivity. The airline has set very early morning departure times from Casablanca. This move facilitates seamless transfers for passengers arriving from West Africa, Central Africa, and Europe.
This expansion serves a vision beyond the 2026 World Cup. Royal Air Maroc is aggressively positioning Casablanca as a premier global transit point.
This infrastructure growth is crucial preparation for the future. Morocco will co-host the 2030 World Cup alongside neighboring Spain and Portugal.
