Lagos State’s Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf, has confirmed that the state is fully prepared to host the 2022 National Festival for Arts and Culture (NAFEST). During a recent visit to the festival venue at the National Stadium in Surulere, Akinbile-Yusuf announced that all arrangements for the event have been completed, ensuring it will be a success.

This year’s NAFEST will run from November 7 to 13 and is expected to be one of the best in the festival’s history. The commissioner highlighted that the event will showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and attract participants and visitors from across the country. She assured everyone that safety measures, transportation, and activities have been well planned for a smooth experience.

Akinbile-Yusuf praised the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his strong support in ensuring everything was ready on time. “We are 100% prepared to host Eko NAFEST, and we have worked hard to meet the governor’s high standards,” she said.

She also mentioned that the governor has made sure the National Stadium is now a modern and impressive venue, following renovations. The commissioner added that security agencies and government bodies are working closely with the Ministry of Tourism to ensure the event runs smoothly, with enough accommodation for the growing number of tourists expected.

Lagos has recently been ranked as the 56th safest city in the world, which Akinbile-Yusuf believes will give visitors peace of mind. The festival will also include vibrant entertainment such as nightlife events and concerts to enhance the experience for attendees.

She expressed her excitement about involving various tourism, arts, culture, and hospitality stakeholders in NAFEST. She believes the festival will boost local businesses and artisans, with local government areas across the state also participating and showcasing their unique cultures.

“Hosting NAFEST brings me great joy because it allows me to connect with people from all over the country without having to travel far,” Akinbile-Yusuf said. She also emphasized that the event will help grow Lagos’s economy and gather important data for future planning.

The commissioner encouraged everyone to attend the festival to enjoy and celebrate Nigeria’s diverse arts and culture, which play a key role in the nation’s unity. Lagos is set to host a week of creativity, connection, and cultural appreciation during this exciting event.
