DESTINY

The Nigerian music community is currently in a state of shock following widespread reports that Afeez Adeshina, the Fuji-Pop sensation known as Destiny Boy, has passed away. The artist was reportedly only 22 years old at the time of the incident.

News of his death began circulating on Sunday, January 18, 2026, after distressing footage allegedly showing the singer’s lifeless body appeared on various social media platforms. While the music industry and fans await an official statement from his family or management, the outpouring of grief across the internet has been immediate.

Reported Burial and Arrival in Ogun State

According to early, unconfirmed reports, the singer’s remains are currently being transported to Abeokuta, Ogun State, for burial. Additional video clips shared on X (formerly Twitter) appeared to show the arrival of his body at a residence in Ayetoro, Ogun State.

However, as of Monday morning, no formal confirmation has been released to clarify the exact circumstances of his passing. Despite the lack of an official report, the viral nature of the footage has led many fans and colleagues to fear the worst.

Insights into the Singer’s Final Hours

Details regarding the singer’s final hours have begun to emerge through his close associates. Bolisco, a colleague of Destiny Boy and an associate of the musician Portable, claimed that the young star had been battling a severe illness prior to his death.

Specifically, Bolisco shared the following details:

  • Rapid Health Decline: The singer reportedly experienced a sudden and severe deterioration in his condition
  • Medical Emergency: It was alleged that the artist vomited blood shortly before he passed away.

A Career Defined by Innovation and New Fatherhood

Destiny Boy first captured the public’s imagination in 2019. He became a household name after his unique Fuji-style cover of Davido’s hit song “If” went viral. This success showcased his rare ability to blend traditional sounds with contemporary pop, carving out a niche that few others could replicate.

Furthermore, his reported passing comes at a particularly poignant time for his family. In November 2024, the singer joyfully announced the birth of his first child on Instagram. Consequently, fans are remembering this milestone with heavy hearts as they offer their condolences.

Status of Official Confirmation

While social media remains flooded with tributes and footage of the singer being transported to his parents’ home, the public continues to wait for a definitive word from his official representatives. The lack of a formal statement has left some fans holding onto hope, even as industry colleagues continue to mourn the loss of a bright young talent.
