Passes Away at 31, Leaving a Powerful Legacy

The South African entertainment industry is grieving as Yallunder passes away at 31. The beloved singer, known for her deep, soulful voice, died on March 13, 2025, after battling a long illness.

Her passing has deeply affected fans, fellow artists, and industry leaders. Many admired her ability to blend emotion and storytelling into her music.

Yallunder’s Journey to Musical Fame

Born Yolanda Nyembezi on August 23, 1994, in Bizana, Eastern Cape, Yallunder quickly became a respected name in South Africa’s music scene. She signed with 1020Cartel and released her debut EP, Uthando Lwam, in 2020. The project earned her a loyal fanbase and recognition as a rising star.

Despite struggling with iron deficiency and anemia, she remained passionate about her music. Unfortunately, her health declined in 2024, leading to frequent hospitalizations.

Her manager, Lerato Sejeng, confirmed her health struggles. “She has been in the hospital, and she has not been well since last year. She was in and out of the hospital the whole of 2024. She was not in a good state.”

Music Industry and Fans Pay Tribute to Yallunder

As news of Yallunder passing away spread, tributes poured in from artists, industry leaders, and fans.

Music producer Oskido expressed his sorrow, saying, “Rest in peace, Yallunder. I am deeply saddened by her passing. My heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and everyone whose lives she touched. May her soul rest in eternal peace.”

The Composer Authors and Publishers Association (CAPASSO) also honored her. “A gifted artist with a voice that touched many, her impact on the South African music scene will never be forgotten.”

A Lasting Musical Legacy

Although Yallunder passes away, her influence remains. Her family shared an emotional statement about their loss. “Losing her has left an unimaginable void in our hearts. But we take comfort in knowing that her music, her legacy, and the love she poured into the world will live on forever.”

Her loved ones are planning a memorial and funeral to honor her life and career.

Yallunder’s voice may be gone, but her music will continue to inspire generations.
