The Ojora family of Lagos has announced the passing of their patriarch, Otunba Adekunle Ojora. The Olori Omo Oba of Lagos died peacefully early Wednesday morning. He was 93 years old.
In a statement by Mrs. Toyin Ojora-Saraki, the family accepted the news as the will of Allah. They celebrated his long, impactful life. They shared the Quranic reflection: “Surely, to Allah we belong, and to Him we will all return.”
A Legacy of Business and Media Leadership
Otunba Ojora was born in 1932. He became a towering figure in the Nigerian corporate world. His career spanned several decades and many industries. He was a true pioneer who helped grow private enterprise in Nigeria.

- Journalism: He started in the early 1950s as a journalist with the BBC.
- Corporate Executive: In 1962, he joined the United Africa Company (UAC) as a top executive.
- Energy Sector: He chaired the board of AGIP Nigeria Limited for over 30 years (1971–2002).

Funeral Rites and Family Tributes
The family confirmed that Otunba Ojora will be buried in Lagos. The burial will follow Islamic rites. They invite the public to pray for his soul. They hope he finds a place in Aljannah Firdaus (Paradise).
Otunba Ojora is survived by his wife, Erelu Ojuolape Ojora. He also leaves behind children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His passing marks the end of an era for one of the most respected families in Lagos.
