MORO

Senate Minority Leader Patrick Abba Moro faces deep sorrow after losing his son and grandson within days. On October 18, 2025, Victor Moro, 25, died in a car crash on the Mararaba road in Nasarawa State. This came just one day after his grandson’s burial.

Victor, fresh from university in Turkey, was back to join the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), a program for young graduates to serve Nigeria.

While traveling from their Benue home for personal errands, Victor’s life ended abruptly. This double loss has left the Moro family and community in shock, turning a time of hope into grief.

Saraki Offers Comfort

On October 20, 2025, former Senate President Bukola Saraki shared a heartfelt message on social media. He called the losses “a pain too heavy to bear.” Saraki wrote,

“Losing a grandson, then a son so soon, breaks any heart. Toyin and I send our deepest sympathies to Senator Moro, his wife, and family. We pray God gives them strength to endure this grief.”

Saraki’s words, tied to Moro’s public service, touched many Nigerians. They joined in offering prayers, showing unity in sorrow.

Ortom Shares Pain

Former Benue Governor Samuel Ortom expressed shock in a statement on October 20, via aide Terver Akase.

“This double blow is beyond words,” Ortom said. “Victor, a bright youth ready to serve through NYSC after studying abroad, was taken too soon. Losing two loved ones so fast is crushing.”

Ortom praised Moro’s work for Benue and Nigeria. “My heart aches for my friend Abba Moro. Words can’t ease this pain, but I pray God grants peace to the departed and comfort to the family.” His call for divine strength echoed widely.

Moro’s Public Role

As a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senator for Benue South and former Interior Minister under Goodluck Jonathan, Moro champions youth and safety.

This tragedy has sparked calls to improve road safety in Nigeria, especially in risky areas like Nasarawa. Victor’s NYSC journey, a mark of patriotism, makes his loss deeply felt.

Senators paused for tributes, and #MoroFamilySupport trended online. Nigerians shared messages of hope, honoring Moro’s service.

Nation Unites in Grief

The tragedy has moved Nigeria, with leaders and citizens offering support. Benue communities held vigils for Victor and his nephew.

Advocacy groups pushed for better roads, noting Nasarawa’s frequent accidents. Social media overflowed with prayers and tributes, reflecting shared loss.

Moro’s strength as a leader now faces a personal test. Supporters are helping with funeral plans and emotional care, showing Nigeria’s solidarity.

Moving Forward

The losses highlight life’s fragility and the need for safer roads. Victor’s bright future and his nephew’s memory inspire action.

As the Moro family grieves, Nigeria stands with them, praying for healing. This moment calls for unity to prevent such tragedies and support those in pain.
