Israel Adesanya, former UFC middleweight champion, is gearing up for a 2025 octagon comeback, according to his coach Eugene Bareman.

After a tough run of three straight losses since defeating Alex Pereira in April 2023, the 36-year-old is back in training.

Recent Setbacks

Adesanya faced upsets against Sean Strickland, Dricus du Plessis, and Nassourdine Imavov in 2025. Despite retirement rumors, Bareman says Adesanya is focused on a return before the year ends.

Training Focus

Bareman shared that Adesanya took time off after his latest loss but resumed intense training two months ago.

“He’s training twice daily, preparing his body and mind for a fight,” Bareman said on a podcast. The goal is a high-energy bout to reignite his career.

Potential Opponent

While no opponent is confirmed, Bareman suggested Adesanya wants an exciting matchup. A rematch with Paulo Costa at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi on October 25 is rumored.

Adesanya previously knocked out Costa in 2020 at UFC 253.

Fight Implications

Ranked fifth in the middleweight division, Adesanya could leap back into title contention under new champion Khamzat Chimaev with a win over Costa, ranked 13th.

The event may also feature Tom Aspinall defending his heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane.

Looking Ahead

Adesanya’s return aims to showcase his resilience and skill, with fans eager to see if he can reclaim his spot at the top of the UFC.
