Shooting Stars Coach Akin Olowookere Dies in Training

The football community is reeling from the sudden death of Akin Olowookere, a newly appointed coach of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC), also known as the Oluyole Warriors.

The tragedy struck during a Monday morning training session at the club’s home ground in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Collapse on the Pitch

Eyewitnesses reported that Olowookere collapsed on the pitch during the team’s training.

He received immediate medical attention and was rushed to a hospital in Ibadan. Tragically, The PUNCH reported that he was confirmed dead upon arrival at the facility.

Olowookere’s Football Legacy

Akin Olowookere was a respected figure in Nigerian football.

He played for Sunshine Stars of Akure for many years before transitioning to coaching.

He served as an assistant coach under Edith Agoye at Sunshine Stars, showcasing his tactical expertise and dedication.

New Role at Shooting Stars

Olowookere had recently joined the 3SC technical crew following the exit of the Gbenga Ogunbote-led coaching staff.

His appointment was seen as a boost for the Oluyole Warriors as they prepared for the new season.

His untimely death has left the club in shock.

A Community in Grief

The loss of Olowookere has deeply affected Shooting Stars and its supporters.

Known for his passion, his contributions to Nigerian football will be remembered.

The club has not yet issued an official statement, but tributes are expected to honor the late coach.
