The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed the final training details for the Super Eagles. The squad will gather in Rabat, Morocco, on Sunday, November 9.
This crucial camp begins preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup (Africa playoffs).
Four Nations Battle for Final Intercontinental Spot
Four nations are competing for Africa’s last chance at a World Cup slot. They are Nigeria, Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo), and Gabon.
This mini-tournament runs from November 13 to 16. The winner advances to the inter-continental playoffs in Mexico in March 2026.
Teams were paired based on FIFA rankings released in mid-October:
- Semi-final 1: Nigeria vs. Gabon (The Panthers)
- Semi-final 2: Cameroon vs. DR Congo
The winner of the Nigeria-Gabon match will face the winner of the other semi-final in the final. Nine African teams have already qualified directly for the 2026 World Cup.
Key Playoff Dates and Venue Details
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) outlined the full tournament schedule:
- Semi-finals: Thursday, November 13
- Final: Sunday, November 16, at the Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex.
The Super Eagles’ first match against Gabon will take place in Rabat. Possible venues include the 18,000-capacity El-Barid Stadium.
The 22,000-capacity Prince Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex is also an option. The NFF confirmed that CAF will conduct a draw to assign the specific venue for each semi-final.
NFF President Expresses Confidence
NFF president Ibrahim Gusau is confident the national team is prepared. He stated that the NFF and the National Sports Commission are ensuring every detail is covered.
“No stone will be left unturned,” Gusau stressed. He believes the team’s “special spirit” will propel them to victory. This spirit helped them score the necessary goals in the final qualifier against Benin Republic.
Gusau confirmed the early camp opening in Rabat. He added that the players and staff are “on the same page.” The desire to feature in the FIFA World Cup finals serves as strong motivation for the squad.
