Satellite Internet in Africa

Orange Africa and Middle East (OMEA) and global satellite operator Eutelsat have announced a strategic partnership to revolutionize internet connectivity in Africa and the Middle East. By leveraging the EUTELSAT KONNECT satellite, this collaboration aims to provide fast, reliable, and accessible broadband to underserved areas across the region.

Transforming Connectivity with Satellite Technology

The rollout will begin in Jordan, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with plans to expand coverage to additional countries over time. The initiative will integrate fixed, mobile, and satellite technologies to connect remote and rural communities, addressing the rising demand for secure and high-performance internet access.

Key Features of the Partnership

High-speed broadband with speeds up to 100 Mbps
B2C and B2B services tailored for individuals and businesses
Enhanced connectivity in rural and underserved regions
Reliable and secure network, compliant with national regulations

While specific timelines and technical details are yet to be disclosed, Orange emphasizes that this initiative aligns with its long-term commitment to digital inclusion. By combining Orange’s telecommunications expertise with Eutelsat’s satellite innovations, the project will support local economies, improve access to online services, and strengthen digital infrastructure across the region.

This partnership marks a significant step towards reducing the digital divide, ensuring that even the most remote communities can benefit from the latest advancements in satellite internet technology.
