Samsung

Samsung has just refreshed its mid-range lineup, and there’s a lot to be excited about. While flagship devices grab the headlines, the reality is that most people don’t need ultra-premium smartphones. Instead, the Galaxy A-series dominates the market, offering impressive specs at a more affordable price. The latest additions, the Galaxy A36 and Galaxy A56, bring notable upgrades in performance, camera technology, and battery life. Let’s dive into what makes these new models stand out.

Refined Design with Premium Touches

Samsung has made subtle yet effective design refinements to the Galaxy A36 and A56. Both phones now feature Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and back, providing enhanced durability and scratch resistance. However, there are some key differences in their construction:

  • Galaxy A36: Polycarbonate (plastic) frame with a matte finish.
  • Galaxy A56: Aluminum frame for a more premium feel.

Both devices are IP67-rated, meaning they are resistant to dust and water (up to 1m for 30 minutes). Another notable change is the camera island design. Unlike previous models, the rear cameras are now enclosed in a unified glass surface for the A36, while the A56 maintains a slightly protruding design.

Color Options:

  • Galaxy A36: Lavender, Black, White, and Lime (with an iridescent finish).
  • Galaxy A56: More solid and monotone colors.

Immersive 6.7-Inch Super AMOLED Display

Both the A36 and A56 come with a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, offering Full HD+ resolution (1080×2340 pixels). Samsung has also slimmed down the bezels, making the screen feel more immersive.

  • 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and gaming.
  • Peak brightness of 1,900 nits, ensuring excellent outdoor visibility.
  • Always-On Display and under-display optical fingerprint sensor.

The A36 and A56 share an almost identical display, except for the selfie camera placement on the A26, which uses a notch instead of a punch-hole cutout.

Performance: A Leap Forward with New Chipsets

Samsung has powered the Galaxy A36 and A56 with significant chipset upgrades for better speed, multitasking, and gaming performance.

  • Galaxy A36: Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 (4nm) with an Adreno 710 GPU.
  • Galaxy A56: Samsung’s new Exynos 1580 (4nm) with an Xclipse 540 GPU.

Both models offer multiple RAM and storage configurations, including:

  • 128GB storage + 6GB/8GB RAM (A36)
  • 256GB storage + 8GB/12GB RAM (A56)

While the A36 features UFS 2.2 storage, the A56 takes things up a notch with UFS 3.1, allowing for faster read and write speeds.

Camera Upgrades: High-Resolution Photos and 4K Video

Samsung has packed these mid-range phones with versatile camera systems, ensuring high-quality photos and videos.

Galaxy A36 Camera Setup

  • 50 MP main sensor (f/1.8) with PDAF and OIS.
  • 8 MP ultra-wide camera (123° field of view).
  • 5 MP macro lens for close-up shots.
  • 12 MP front camera for selfies.

Galaxy A56 Camera Setup

  • 50 MP main sensor (f/1.8) but with a larger 1/1.56″ sensor for improved low-light performance.
  • 12 MP ultra-wide camera (123° FOV).
  • 5 MP macro lens.
  • 12 MP front camera with 4K recording support.

Video Capabilities

Both phones support 4K video recording on both front and rear cameras, with additional gyro-EIS stabilization for smooth footage. The A56, however, has slightly better video processing thanks to its Exynos chip.

Battery Life & Charging: Super Fast 45W Charging

Samsung has kept the 5,000mAh battery from previous models but has upgraded charging speeds to 45W, a feature that was previously exclusive to flagship devices.

  • 65% charge in 30 minutes and full charge in just 68 minutes.

This is a major improvement for users who need all-day battery life with fast top-ups when needed.

Software: Android 15 with 6 Years of Updates

Both the Galaxy A36 and A56 ship with Android 15 and One UI 7 out of the box. Samsung has committed to six major Android updates, ensuring long-term software support. This makes the A-series one of the longest-supported mid-range phone lineups in the industry.

New Software Features Include:

  • Galaxy AI enhancements.
  • Circle to Search functionality.
  • Virtual Proximity Sensing for improved user experience.

Final Thoughts: A Strong Mid-Range Upgrade

Samsung’s Galaxy A36 and A56 offer a compelling mix of flagship features at a mid-range price. With faster performance, better cameras, improved charging, and extended software support, these devices will likely be among the best-selling smartphones of the year.

If you’re looking for an affordable yet premium smartphone, the A36 is a fantastic choice. If you want even better performance and a premium build, the A56 is worth the upgrade.
