The Supreme Court has delivered its judgment affirming Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), bringing an end to the protracted leadership tussle within the party. The ruling has been hailed by party members as a step toward restoring unity and stability.

The verdict resolved the lingering conflict between Ezeokenwa and Edozie Njoku, who had previously laid claim to the party’s leadership. The court dismissed Njoku’s appeal, upholding the earlier decisions that recognized Ezeokenwa’s leadership. In response, Njoku has expressed his intention to comply with the ruling, stating, “I have accepted the judgment of the Supreme Court, and I will abide by it.” His commitment to respect the decision is seen as a move that could foster reconciliation within the party.

Following the judgment, APGA’s leadership called for unity among members and urged all factions to work together to strengthen the party. The party’s spokesperson commended the judiciary for its role in settling the leadership dispute, describing the ruling as a victory for democracy and the rule of law. In a statement, the leadership emphasized that it is time to focus on the party’s growth and preparation for future elections rather than engaging in internal conflicts.

The Abia State chapter of APGA also reacted positively to the verdict, calling on party members to rally behind Ezeokenwa. The chapter’s leadership warned against actions by impostors who might attempt to exploit the situation to create further divisions. They reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ezeokenwa in steering the party toward achieving its goals.

This ruling marks the conclusion of a contentious legal battle that has overshadowed APGA’s political activities in recent months. Observers believe the verdict could provide an opportunity for the party to rebuild its image and focus on its core objectives. Party leaders are optimistic that the resolution of the crisis will enable APGA to consolidate its position as a strong political force in Nigeria’s multiparty democracy.

As the dust settles, APGA members and supporters are hopeful that this decision will pave the way for a more united and effective party structure, ready to tackle the challenges ahead in the nation’s political landscape.
