Google has unveiled Nigeria’s top search trends for 2024, with Bobrisky, Beta Edu, and Shallipopi dominating the list. The report sheds light on the nation’s curiosity about individuals, events, and topics that shaped discussions throughout the year.

Bobrisky, the popular Nigerian crossdresser and social media influencer, emerged as the most searched individual. His dramatic lifestyle, controversial statements, and consistent presence in the media kept Nigerians searching for updates about his life.

Beta Edu, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, also featured prominently due to her leadership role and contributions to national discussions about social welfare programs. Her initiatives, including various poverty alleviation schemes, drew widespread attention and debate.

In the entertainment sector, Shallipopi, a rising musician, captivated audiences with his viral hit tracks. His unique sound and energetic performances made him a breakout star, earning him significant search traffic.

The 2024 U.S. elections and national anthem also ranked high in Nigeria’s search trends. The political contest captured global attention, while conversations around the national anthem sparked interest due to its symbolism in global sports and political events.

Additionally, a poignant part of the search report was the list of most-searched deaths. Nigerian actor Junior Pope, veteran comedian Mr. Ibu, and other notable figures such as the Wigwes were among the most-searched personalities in this category, reflecting the impact of their contributions to Nigerian culture and the emotional resonance of their passings.

These trends underscore Nigerians’ interest in entertainment, politics, and cultural narratives, highlighting the diverse topics that shaped 2024.
