In his 2025 New Year address, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reassured Nigerians of his administration’s commitment to improving the nation’s economic and social conditions. The speech focused on key areas such as food security, economic stability, and fostering unity across political, ethnic, and religious divides.

President Tinubu pledged to tackle inflation, aiming to reduce it to 15% by the end of 2025. He emphasized the administration’s plans for massive food production, with an intent to address rising food costs and ensure availability for all Nigerians.

“Through strategic investments in agriculture and infrastructure, we will build a more resilient economy,” Tinubu stated, urging citizens to remain patient as the government implements its recovery agenda.

Tinubu also appealed for unity among Nigerians, stressing the need to overcome political, ethnic, and religious divisions. He described these divides as obstacles to national progress and called on citizens to prioritize collective growth over individual differences.

“Let us rise above all that divides us and work together for the betterment of our nation,” the president said in his address.

The president’s message has elicited mixed reactions among Nigerians. While some have welcomed his optimism and focus on economic recovery, others expressed skepticism, questioning the feasibility of his promises. Critics highlighted the challenges faced in 2024, including high inflation and unemployment, as evidence of the government’s slow progress in addressing national issues.

On social media, Nigerians shared varied opinions. Supporters commended the president for his forward-looking approach, while skeptics demanded clearer timelines and actionable steps to achieve the proposed goals.

In a bid to foster hope, Tinubu acknowledged the sacrifices made by Nigerians in the face of economic difficulties. He assured them that their resilience and contributions are not in vain, promising a better future under his administration.

As 2025 begins, the government faces the task of balancing its ambitious goals with the realities of economic and social challenges. Nigerians remain watchful, with many hoping that the promises made in the president’s New Year address will translate into tangible progress in the months ahead.
