Apple’s AI-powered Siri 2.0 Faces Delays Due to Software Bugs

Apple’s much-anticipated AI-driven overhaul for Siri, expected to be a key feature in iOS 18.4, is facing delays due to engineering challenges and software bugs. Initially planned for release in March 2025, reports indicate that the update might now be pushed back by at least a month as Apple works to resolve critical issues.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s engineers encountered unexpected stability problems while integrating advanced AI capabilities into Siri. The upgrade, internally referred to as “Siri 2.0,” is designed to make the voice assistant more responsive and capable of handling complex commands with improved natural language processing. However, persistent software bugs have hindered progress, forcing Apple to reconsider its release timeline.

Industry analysts suggest that Apple is prioritizing quality and performance over meeting an initial deadline, as the company aims to compete with AI-powered assistants from rivals like OpenAI and Google. The delay is reportedly affecting Apple’s broader AI strategy, which includes enhancing Siri’s ability to process on-device commands and integrate deeper with Apple’s ecosystem.

The postponement of Siri 2.0 could impact Apple’s WWDC 2025 announcements, where AI advancements are expected to be a focal point. Despite the setback, sources indicate that Apple is working intensively to resolve the issues, with an adjusted launch timeline likely placing the AI-enhanced Siri update in April or later.
