Montenegro shooting

A tragic mass shooting in Montenegro’s coastal town of Cetinje has left 12 people dead, including the perpetrator. The attack, which occurred at a restaurant, has shaken the nation, known for its relative peace.

Authorities report that the gunman, a 34-year-old man, opened fire in a crowded restaurant following an alleged dispute. Armed with a semi-automatic weapon, he indiscriminately shot at patrons and passersby before turning the gun on himself.

Eyewitness accounts describe the scene as chaotic, with people scrambling for safety. Emergency responders arrived swiftly, but the death toll included ten civilians, the gunman, and two others who succumbed to injuries later.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but initial findings suggest that the gunman may have had a history of mental health issues. Investigators are working to piece together events leading up to the tragedy, including questioning witnesses and reviewing security footage.

Montenegro’s Prime Minister expressed condolences to the victims’ families and declared a day of national mourning. He emphasized the need for stricter gun control laws and support for mental health services.

Cetinje, a historic town and popular tourist destination, is grappling with the aftermath of the shooting. Residents have gathered for candlelight vigils to honor the victims, and support services have been made available for those affected by the tragedy.

International leaders and organizations have condemned the attack and offered their sympathies to Montenegro. The incident highlights the growing need to address gun violence worldwide.
