Sustainability summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Abuja to participate in the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) Summit, a high-profile global event dedicated to advancing sustainable development and economic transformation. The summit, which begins January 12 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, will gather world leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to strategize on achieving global sustainability goals.

This year’s summit aims to accelerate progress on critical sustainability challenges, focusing on renewable energy adoption, environmental conservation, and economic transformation in the face of climate change. President Tinubu, in line with his administration’s commitment to fostering sustainable growth, will join other leaders in deliberations aimed at driving actionable solutions for a greener future.

According to a statement from the presidency, Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s dedication to global cooperation in tackling climate issues and its efforts to attract investments into the country’s renewable energy sector. The Nigerian delegation, which includes top government officials and industry stakeholders, is expected to engage in discussions to secure partnerships that will bolster Nigeria’s energy transition and sustainability goals.

The ADSW Summit has become a pivotal platform for addressing environmental and energy challenges, drawing global attention to the urgent need for coordinated efforts in tackling climate issues. Organizers of the event emphasize that 2025 presents a critical juncture for advancing the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

While in Abu Dhabi, Tinubu is also scheduled to meet with key investors and international stakeholders, reinforcing Nigeria’s position as a regional leader in sustainable energy development. The presidency highlighted that these engagements are aimed at unlocking new economic opportunities and enhancing Nigeria’s resilience to climate-related challenges.

The summit, which features plenary sessions, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, will provide a platform for Nigeria to showcase its renewable energy initiatives and sustainability projects. Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja on Thursday, January 16, after the conclusion of the summit.

President Tinubu’s participation in this global event highlights Nigeria’s commitment to a sustainable and inclusive economic future, aligning with his administration’s broader vision of fostering economic growth while addressing climate and environmental concerns.
