MOROCCO

Morocco took a major step forward in its aerospace sector as King Mohammed VI and Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for a state-of-the-art aircraft engine complex in Nouaceur, near Casablanca, on Tuesday.

The facility, developed by France’s Safran Group, marks a significant milestone in the country’s push to become a global hub for advanced industries.

A Hub for Innovation

The new complex, integrated into the Midparc aerospace platform, will focus on assembling and testing Safran engines.

It includes a specialized maintenance unit for the cutting-edge LEAP engine models, known for their efficiency and performance.

This development strengthens Morocco’s role in the global aerospace supply chain, offering advanced capabilities in engine production and repair.

Driving High-Tech Growth

Industry Minister Ryad Mezzour highlighted Morocco’s rise as a key player in high-tech sectors.

He credited ongoing reforms and robust training programs, led by King Mohammed VI, for positioning the country as an attractive destination for global investors.

“This project showcases our commitment to innovation and industrial excellence,” Mezzour stated, emphasizing the economic benefits for the region.

Safran’s Commitment

Ross McInnes, chairman of Safran Group, expressed pride in the royal endorsement of the project. He announced that a new maintenance workshop will also be established under a memorandum of understanding signed during the ceremony.

This addition will enhance the facility’s capacity to service advanced engines, further solidifying the partnership between Safran and Morocco.

Economic and Strategic Impact

The Nouaceur complex is expected to create jobs and boost local expertise in aerospace technology.

By fostering collaboration with a global leader like Safran, Morocco aims to expand its industrial capabilities and attract further investment.

The project aligns with the nation’s vision to lead in high-tech manufacturing while supporting sustainable economic growth.
