National Technology Innovation Honors

The Distinguished Technology Personality of the Year award is one of the coveted honors at the National Technology Innovation Honors (NTIH), spotlighting individuals whose work is actively transforming Nigeria’s technology space. It celebrates rare visionaries, those who challenge convention and lead innovation with clarity, courage, and long-term impact.

NTIH has emerged as the definitive stage on which brilliance shines and genius is recognized. However, this honor goes a step further, honoring not only those who swim with the current of progress, but also the brave few who completely redirect its flow. These trailblazers drive transformation by advancing software, infrastructure, or community-focused tech ecosystems, resulting in measurable improvements in efficiency, accessibility, and national development.

The selection process is stringent, and nominees must demonstrate

  • Outstanding leadership in the execution of scalable technology projects;
  • tangible outcomes in terms of improving citizen access to technology, digitizing public services, or modernizing organizations;
  • creative use of state-of-the-art technologies to address urgent issues, such as distributed ledgers, big data, or artificial intelligence;
  • a track record of promoting social inclusion, economic prosperity, or broad access to technology.

This category regularly features visionaries whose work combines creativity with observable results. Previous recipients in prominent NTIH categories include

  • Tochukwu Njoku (2024)
  • Joyce Balogun (2023)
  • Israel Musa (2022)
  • Aisha Bello (2021)
  • Chukwudi Eze (2020)
  • Fatima Adebayo (2019)
  • Kemi Oladipo (2018)

These honorees demonstrate the high caliber of creativity. NTIH honors innovators who develop solutions that are specific to Nigeria’s requirements while enhancing the country’s reputation in the international tech community.

This award, which honors individuals at the forefront of system revolution, community empowerment, and the development of a forward-thinking future through technology, will continue to shine as Nigeria’s tech ecosystem grows.
