The Czech Republic has reaffirmed its dedication to deepening economic cooperation with Nigeria.

The Czech Ambassador to Nigeria, Tomáš Výprachtický, made this commitment on Sunday.

He spoke during the official unveiling of the Nigeria-Central Europe Chamber of Commerce (NCECC) in Abuja. The Regional Trade Institute and the Czech Embassy collaborated with the NCECC to host the event.

Fostering Strategic Partnerships

Ambassador Výprachtický described the dinner as a unique platform. It aims to connect government officials, captains of industry, and creative leaders.

He noted that the objective is clear. They want to encourage meaningful dialogue to cultivate strategic partnerships.

The envoy also highlighted the enduring relationship between the two nations. He cited “sovereign cooperation” as an example. specifically, he pointed out that Nigerian priests have served in Czech monasteries for the past seven years.

Furthermore, he praised Nigeria as a “great country.” He noted its abundant human and natural resources. He also acknowledged the nation’s significant potential in engineering and technology.

“When I was appointed ambassador, my main goal was to exploit and boost such potential… which, frankly speaking, so far has been partly fulfilled,”Výprachtický stated.

Connecting Continents

Dr. Paschal Onyemaechi, President of the NCECC, also spoke at the event. He discussed the chamber’s operational scope.

He revealed that the organization was registered in August 2025. It currently operates in at least five countries. Its mandate is to bridge the gap between Europe and Africa.

Onyemaechi outlined the chamber’s strategy. They aim to combine European technology and ethics with Africa’s young population and natural resources.

“Our role is to promote bilateral trade, encourage investment, and provide up-to-date information about markets and emerging opportunities,”he said.

Additionally, he announced a specific benefit for the education sector. The chamber has secured a deal with the Czech Republic. This agreement will help post-graduate students save money.

Advisory Council Inducted

A key highlight of the event was the induction of the NCECC Advisory Council.

Prof. Andrew Haruna, a Distinguished Linguist and Pro-Chancellor of Bingham University, was inducted as the council’s leader.

Other prominent figures inducted into the body include:

  • Mr. Yakubu Dogara: Former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
