The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has launched enhanced wheelchair assistance and special support services for passengers with disabilities, the elderly, and others requiring mobility aid at airports nationwide.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring dignity, safety, and comfort for all categories of travellers.
Wheelchair Services from Check-in to Arrival
Announcing the development on Monday via a statement on X, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Obiageli Orah, said wheelchair services will now be available throughout a passenger’s airport journey.
“Wheelchair services are provided from check-in through boarding and on arrival. Dedicated staff are available to offer guidance and support.
Priority is given at security checks and boarding gates,” Orah stated.
Accessible Facilities Across Terminals
To make air travel more convenient, FAAN has provided accessible restrooms, elevators, and special assistance desks at terminals across the country.
Passengers in need of mobility or other forms of support are advised to notify their airline or airport staff ahead of time, or request assistance directly at the designated desk upon arrival.
