Scholarship

The Government of Mauritius is offering a fully funded scholarship program for outstanding students. This opportunity is exclusively available to citizens and residents of African Union member states.

The initiative provides crucial support for students aiming to pursue higher education at various levels in Mauritius.

Scholarship Program Details

This scholarship package is comprehensive. It covers tuition fees, includes a contribution toward living expenses, and provides return airfare.

  • Study Levels: Diploma, Undergraduate, Masters, MPhil, and PhD.
  • Eligibility: All African Countries that are African Union member states.
  • Financial Support: Full Tuition, Stipend, and Airfare Tickets.
  • English Requirement: No IELTS or similar English proficiency test is needed.
  • Deadline: Applications are anticipated to close on March 27, 2026.

Crucial Application Steps

Applicants must not send applications directly to institutions in Mauritius. The entire application process must go through the Nominating Agency in your country of origin. This agency is usually part of your country’s Ministry of Education.

The Nominating Agency will review, select, and nominate candidates to the Mauritian Government. Each agency can nominate a maximum of fifteen (15) candidates in total (five for each category: Undergraduate, Masters, and MPhil/PhD).

Eligibility Criteria to Apply

To qualify for the Government of Mauritius Scholarship, applicants must meet specific age and academic application criteria:

  • Undergraduate Age Limit: Applicants must be between 18 and 25 years old (i.e., they must not have reached their 26th birthday by January 1, 2027).
  • PhD Age Limit: Applicants must not have reached 40 years old by January 1, 2027.
  • Academic Application: You must have already successfully applied for a full-time, on-campus program (Diploma, Degree, MPhil, or PhD) at a public Higher Education Institution in Mauritius for the 2026 academic year.
  • Duration: The scholarship covers the course duration up to the maximum specified limit or the minimum course duration, whichever is shorter.

 Full Financial Benefits

Successful scholars receive robust financial assistance:

  1. Tuition: Full coverage of all tuition fees.
  2. Stipend: A monthly contribution toward living expenses while studying in Mauritius.
  3. Travel Costs: A return airfare ticket via the most economical route. This covers travel to Mauritius at the start and the return home after successful completion.

 Required Documents and Endorsement

Your application submission must adhere strictly to official guidelines:

  • Application Form: Use only the official application form. You should fill it out electronically before printing.
  • Nominating Agency Endorsement: Section 5 of the application form must be completed and endorsed by the Nominating Agency in your country of citizenship.
  • Submission: The application must be channeled solely through this designated Nominating Agency.
