Highlights from The Future Awards Africa 2024: Winners List and Notable Achievements

The 18th edition of The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) celebrated the achievements of young Africans across various fields, showcasing some of the continent’s most inspiring individuals. Held in Lagos, Nigeria, the event spotlighted rising leaders in technology, entrepreneurship, music, and social impact, reflecting the vision of TFAA to honor youth excellence and catalyze change across Africa.

This year, Michael Ama Psalmist Akinrogunde won the coveted Prize for Film, solidifying his influence within the African film industry. Known for his innovative storytelling and dedication to impactful narratives, Akinrogunde’s win emphasizes the growth of young African filmmakers and their contributions to reshaping the global film landscape. His work has been celebrated for its authenticity and commitment to African perspectives, capturing audiences both locally and internationally.

In addition to the film category, other notable winners include Pamela Adie, who took home the Prize for Advocacy for her efforts in human rights and social justice, and Bukunmi Oluyomi who won the Prize for Arts and Culture for her outstanding contributions to the creative sector. The Prize for Technology went to Ifeanyi Okoye, recognized for his advancements in digital innovations that aim to solve local challenges through tech-driven solutions.

This year’s TFAA ceremony also honored young entrepreneurs driving economic growth. Chukwuka Monye, founder of a fintech startup aimed at financial inclusion, won the Prize for Business, acknowledging his dedication to empowering underserved communities through accessible financial services. Monye’s win reflects a broader trend within TFAA, where awards frequently celebrate socially impactful businesses and ventures dedicated to development across African regions.
