HEALTH PROGRAM

Imagine holding the map to Nigeria’s health future a future where no mother walks miles for care and every child has access to a modern clinic. That map is now open.

The Federal Government has issued a nationwide call, inviting bright young citizens to join the 2026 National Health Fellows Program.

This isn’t just a job; it’s an urgent, year-long quest to transform the nation’s healthcare landscape. Successful candidates will be handed the tools to build a lasting legacy.

The Grand Mission: Over 8,800 Lives to Touch

This powerful initiative is driven by the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. Its mission is both ambitious and desperately needed: to fix and expand the backbone of national healthcare.

  • The Blueprint: The plan involves the comprehensive upgrade of existing primary healthcare centers.
  • Massive Expansion: The goal is to construct over 8,800 brand-new centers across every single local government area.
  • The Outcome: Accessible, high-quality healthcare will finally be delivered to communities that need it most.

For twelve intense months, the chosen fellows will receive robust support. This includes intensive training, invaluable fieldwork, and dedicated mentorship. Crucially, a generous stipend will be provided to cover living expenses, allowing participants to focus solely on this vital full-time service.

The Profile of a Health Hero: Who Qualifies?

The government is searching for leaders who are ready to roll up their sleeves and dive into the field. Are you one of the chosen?

  • The Core: You must be between the ages of 25 and 35.
  • The Knowledge: A Bachelor’s degree in a health-related, IT, or social sciences field is required.
  • The Drive: You must demonstrate clear experience or passion for public health, community leadership, or NGO work.
  • The Commitment: Full-time dedication to the 12-month program is mandatory.
  • The Roots: You must be an indigene of the state you apply for.
  • The Toolkit: Possession of a modern smartphone capable of running Zoom and WhatsApp is essential for field communication.
  • The Character: A strong letter of recommendation from a Dean, NYSC supervisor, or respected leader is needed to vouch for your character and initiative.

More Than a Stipend: Investing in Your Future

The fellowship is engineered not just for service, but for significant career growth.

Beyond the stipend to support your cost of living, you will receive continuous mentorship. Furthermore, the intensive training and hands-on fieldwork experience will equip you with unique skills, positioning you as a leader in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving public health sector. This program is your chance to turn your entrepreneurial drive into a public good.

The application portal is open! Are you ready to answer the call and become one of Nigeria’s next health heroes?
