Charles Born

Nollywood actor Charles Born has revealed the high-stakes gamble that launched his acting career. Just one year ago, he quit a radio job with a meager bank balance. Now, the actor has successfully credited over 40 films to his name.

This rapid ascent marks a major milestone in the Nigerian film industry. It highlights a rare success story in a highly competitive market.

The Risk Behind the Success

Born took to social media to celebrate his anniversary as a full-time actor. He disclosed that his transition was far from smooth. Initially, he juggled radio duties with acting auditions.

The turning point came in 2024. He decided to commit fully to the screen despite financial risks.

Born shared the details on Instagram.

“I resigned completely from radio very broke with only 13k in my acc. And 1 year after we are here! OVER 40 FILMS,” he stated.

Charles Born Reflects on Rejection

Before his current streak, the actor faced stagnation. He noted that previous attempts yielded no results. This occurred while he tried to balance his radio career.

He followed standard industry advice. He attended auditions and sent monologues to directors. Yet, he was met with silence.

Born reflected on the emotional weight of his journey.

He wrote, “It is with tears in my eye that I type this, but not tears of sadness but tears of gratitude.”

He also expressed shock at his own progress.

“If u told me in 2023 that one day you would google me and ‘Nigerian Actor’ would pop up I would have laughed you to scorn but look at God,” he added.

Acknowledging the Support System

The actor attributed his resilience to a strong support network. He specifically thanked his manager and the Nollywood community.

However, Charles Born admits he has goals left to achieve.

“Have I gotten to the peak? NO! have I gotten that dream role? NO! but I grateful for the journey, the growth, the opportunities, the lessons and above all grateful for the gift of time,” he remarked.

He shared a final message for aspiring creatives. The actor referenced a popular local saying to encourage persistence.

He wrote, “So to every dreamer don’t stop dreaming, chasing and believing because in the words of @realwarripikin ‘na who give up loose’.”
