Nigeria’s Chief Justice to Swear In 57 New Senior Advocates

On September 29, 2025, Nigeria’s Chief Justice, Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will induct 57 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria.

The event, set for 10 a.m. in the Supreme Court’s main courtroom in Abuja, kicks off the 2025/2026 legal year.

State of the Judiciary Address

Dr. Festus Akande, the court’s information director, announced the event. The Chief Justice will deliver a speech reviewing the Supreme Court’s performance and the broader Nigerian judiciary’s achievements in the 2024/2025 legal year.

Key Stakeholders’ Remarks

Other justice sector leaders will speak, including the Attorney General, the head of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Bar Association president. They will discuss the state of Nigeria’s legal system.

Following a Successful Year

The Supreme Court began its annual break on July 21, 2025, after a productive 2024/2025 legal year. This ceremony marks the formal start of the new legal term with a focus on advancing justice.
