Anguissa

The Italian football club Napoli has been dealt yet another significant blow. Midfielder Frank Anguissa is now the third player ruled out with a long-term thigh injury. The Cameroonian international sustained the injury while on duty with his national team.

Despite initial assessments offering some reassurance, the club confirmed on Thursday that medical tests revealed a high-grade lesion to his left hamstring. While Napoli did not issue a specific recovery timeline, Anguissa is expected to be sidelined for approximately three to four months.

Growing Hamstring Woes

His absence significantly strains Napoli’s squad depth. He joins a growing list of star players already battling similar hamstring issues. Both fellow midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and striker Romelu Lukaku are currently sidelined with long-term hamstring injuries.

Neither of the two Belgian stars is anticipated to return before the new year, leaving the coach and the club’s supporters facing a challenging period ahead.

A Major Setback for Club and Country

Anguissa has proven to be a vital player for Napoli this season. He contributed effectively in the midfield, securing four goals and two assists in 15 appearances across both Serie A and the Champions League campaigns.

The timing of his injury is a significant blow for both the club and his national team. Not only will his critical midfield presence be missed by Napoli, but the injury also means he will be unavailable for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is scheduled to commence next month. This is a major setback for Cameroon as they prepare for the continental tournament.
