Ademola Lookman finally shattered his scoring silence on Tuesday night, rifling home a spectacular equalizer for Atalanta in their Serie A clash against AC Milan at home. The reigning African Player of the Year struck in the 35th minute, canceling out Samuele Ricci’s early opener in the 4th minute to make it 1-1.
Fed by Mario Pasalic, Lookman unleashed a thunderbolt into the top corner, sending the home crowd into frenzy. It marked his first goal of the 2025/26 campaign across all competitions — and his seventh appearance for the Bergamo side.
From Exile to Embrace: A Rocky Return
The 28-year-old forward endured a challenging beginning to the season following a bitter contract dispute. After a failed summer move to Inter Milan, Lookman refused to train, leading to temporary isolation from the squad.
He made a brief cameo just four minutes in Atalanta’s 3-0 victory at Torino in September. Days later, he earned his first start in the Champions League against Club Brugge.
Now back in rhythm, Lookman aims to recapture last season’s magic, when he bagged 15 league goals and 5 assists, plus 5 goals and 2 assists in Europe.
Atalanta Holds Firm in Milan Draw
The 1-1 result keeps Atalanta competitive in the Serie A standings, while Milan searches for consistency. Lookman’s moment of brilliance not only lifted his team but reaffirmed his status as one of Africa’s elite talents.
With the goal drought over, the Nigerian international now sets his sights on consistent form and perhaps a stronger Atalanta push in both domestic and European fronts.
Will Lookman lead Atalanta to glory this season?
