Ademola Lookman, Nigerian international and forward for Atalanta, has emerged as the favorite to win the prestigious African Footballer of the Year award at the upcoming 2024 CAF Awards in Marrakech, Morocco. This recognition would mark a significant milestone in Lookman’s career and underscore his exceptional form over the past season.

Lookman’s nomination comes after an impressive year both at the club and international levels. His standout performances for Atalanta in Serie A, where he consistently delivered goals and assists, have drawn widespread acclaim. On the international stage, he has been pivotal for the Super Eagles, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s campaigns in major tournaments.

Former CAF Player of the Year, Cedric Bakambu, has also expressed his support for Lookman, describing the Nigerian as the clear choice for the honor. “He’s been incredible this year, and his consistency sets him apart,” Bakambu said, adding weight to the growing anticipation of Lookman’s triumph.

The 2024 CAF Awards, scheduled for December 15, will celebrate Africa’s finest in football, with Lookman standing out among the top contenders. Analysts highlight his tactical intelligence, speed, and goal-scoring prowess as key attributes that have elevated him to the top echelon of African football.

If victorious, Lookman would join the ranks of other Nigerian football legends like Nwankwo Kanu and Victor Ikpeba, who previously won the award. Fans and stakeholders across the continent eagerly await the ceremony, with many rooting for Lookman to bring the title back to Nigeria.

The CAF Awards is not only a celebration of individual excellence but also a testament to the growing influence of African players on the global stage. Lookman’s potential win would further emphasize the rising prominence of Nigerian footballers in international competitions.
