Rosenior Shuts Down Palmer Exit Rumors: “He is Central to Our Future”

January 23, 2026

2 minutes read

Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has moved swiftly to quell growing speculation regarding Cole Palmer’s future. Amidst intensifying reports linking the star midfielder with a high-profile return to Manchester, Rosenior has firmly stated that the player remains a cornerstone of the club’s long-term vision.

The Chelsea boss confirmed on Friday, January 23, 2026, that he held one-on-one discussions with Palmer to address the rumors directly. According to Rosenior, the player provided positive assurances about his commitment to the London side.

“Very Happy to Be Here”

Addressing the media, Rosenior emphasized that Palmer’s focus hasn’t wavered despite the external noise. The coach highlighted the midfielder’s importance to the squad’s structural evolution.

“I spoke with Cole, and he seems and is very happy to be here,” Rosenior stated. “For sure, Palmer is a huge part of our plans in the long term.”

Furthermore, Rosenior noted that the England international is in excellent condition, both mentally and physically. This was evidenced by Palmer’s immediate return to full first-team training on Friday morning.

A Critical Asset for Chelsea

Since his move to Stamford Bridge, Palmer has established himself as one of the most clinical creative forces in the Premier League. His importance to the current campaign is reflected in his recent form:

  • Direct Goal Involvements: 6 (3 goals and 3 assists).
  • Appearances: 11 matches this season.
  • Status: Current squad pillar and primary playmaker.

Transfer Speculation Ruled Out

While reports had suggested a potential Manchester homecoming for the talented playmaker, the club’s leadership appears to have no intention of entering negotiations. Rosenior’s comments serve as a definitive stance against any immediate transfer.

These statements reinforce the idea that the club views Palmer as “untouchable” in the current market.

By confirming Palmer is back in training and focused, Chelsea hopes to shift the narrative back to their upcoming Premier League fixtures.
