The Carthage Eagles have finalized their squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco. Head coach Sami Trabelsi has selected 28 players, blending seasoned veterans with returning European-based talent.

The biggest surprise is the return of Ali Maaloul. The 35-year-old left-back has earned a recall after nearly two years away from the national team.

This selection marks a significant milestone for Maaloul. He is now poised to make his fifth appearance at Africa’s premier tournament. His inclusion highlights Trabelsi’s strategy to rely on battle-hardened leaders for a demanding group stage.

A Blend of Experience and Flair

Coach Trabelsi opted for continuity in defense while boosting the midfield with dynamic playmakers.

  • Midfield Engine: The squad welcomes back Ellyes Skhiri and Hannibal Mejbri. Their energy and creativity will be vital in the center of the park. They join established figures like Ferjani Sassi and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane to ensure a robust midfield.
  • Attacking Threat: Up front, the team relies on the finishing of Seifeddine Jaziri. Wingers Elias Saad and Sebastian Tounekti will support him with pace and skill.

Group C Challenge

Tunisia faces a stern test in Group C. The team kicks off its campaign on December 23 in Rabat.

The Schedule:

  • Matchday 1: vs. Uganda (Rabat)
  • Matchday 2: vs. Nigeria
  • Matchday 3: vs. Tanzania

This tournament is historic for the North African side. It marks a record-extending 17th successive AFCON appearance for Tunisia. As consistent heavyweights, the Eagles aim to build early momentum and challenge for the title on Moroccan soil.
