President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed a thorough investigation into the tragic stampede at a children’s funfair in Ibadan, which has claimed at least 35 lives and left six others injured. The tragic event took place during a heavily attended children’s Christmas fair. According to the police, the stampede began after an uncontrollable crowd surged into the event venue, overwhelming security measures. In response, law enforcement confirmed the arrest of eight individuals linked to organizing the fair, including event coordinators and security personnel.
Expressing his condolences, President Tinubu assured grieving families that the government would uncover the circumstances leading to the incident. “This is a deeply painful loss for Nigeria.
