The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has reiterated a stern warning to major airlines regarding flights over Venezuela.
On Tuesday, the agency highlighted a “worsening security situation” and urged operators to exercise extreme caution.
The notice is a direct re-issue of an alert originally released on November 21, underscoring the persistence and severity of the threat. The FAA released the text to the media on Tuesday without any modifications.
Risks at All Altitudes
The warning paints a concerning picture for civil aviation in the region. According to the FAA, the danger is not limited to specific flight paths but encompasses all phases of air travel.
“Threats could pose a potential risk to aircraft at all altitudes,” the notice stated.
The agency specified that risks exist during:
- Overflight (cruising altitude)
- Arrival and departure phases
- Operations on the ground at airports
Context: Rising Geopolitical Tension
This aviation alert arrives against a backdrop of escalating geopolitical friction. The warning follows reports of a large-scale U.S. military buildup in the southern Caribbean.
The increased military presence aligns with the current administration’s foreign policy objectives. U.S. President Donald Trump is actively campaigning to pressure Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro to step down, further intensifying the stability risks in the region.
