CAF African Schools Football Championship 2025

The CAF African Schools Football Championship 2025 is coming to Ghana, marking the first time the tournament’s Continental Finals will be hosted in West Africa. Scheduled for April 21-26, 2025, the competition will take place at the Legon Sports Stadium in Accra, a state-of-the-art 10,000-seater venue that was built for the 2023 African Games.

This tournament, launched in April 2022 by CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe, has grown into Africa’s largest youth football initiative, with over 1.96 million boys and girls from 46 countries participating since its inception.

What to Expect at the CAF African Schools Football Championship 2025

The CAF African Schools Football Championship 2025 is more than just a football competition—it’s a platform for youth development. With the backing of the Motsepe Foundation, which has donated $10 million, the event funds legacy projects in schools across Africa, including:

  • Infrastructure development
  • Library renovations
  • Community-based projects

Prize money for the winners is substantial, with the champions receiving $300,000, the runners-up earning $200,000, and the third-place teams securing $150,000.

Alongside the matches, CAF will run capacity-building programs for young players, coaches, and educators. These include:

The CAF African Schools Football Championship 2025 will feature the host nation Ghana, as well as zone winners from six CAF regions and the 2023/24 titleholders.
