Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has retained its position as West Africa’s leading construction and infrastructure company after emerging winner of the 2026 Best Construction and Infrastructure Company of the Year award for the second consecutive year.

The company disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, noting that the award was presented during the 2026 West Africa Innovation Awards ceremony held in Lagos.

According to the organisers, Julius Berger outperformed major competitors, including Micheleti Construction Ghana Limited and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, to secure the prestigious regional recognition.

Chairman of the awards organising committee, Canmil Chineme, said the award recognises organisations that have demonstrated exceptional impact, innovation, and professionalism within one of the region’s most critical sectors.

He explained that the recognition followed extensive consultations and a detailed evaluation process conducted by the awards’ governing board and panel of judges.

According to Chineme, Julius Berger was selected for its outstanding contributions to innovation, customer service excellence, and professionalism in the construction and infrastructure industry.

Reacting to the recognition, the company’s Director of Administration, Abdulaziz Kaita, described the award as a reaffirmation of the company’s more than five decades of commitment to quality, innovation, safety, and infrastructure development across Nigeria and West Africa.

Kaita said the award represents more than a corporate achievement, stressing that infrastructure development remains central to economic transformation and social progress.

“Tonight, we celebrate more than concrete, steel, and asphalt; we celebrate vision, resilience, and the transformative power of infrastructure in shaping economies, connecting communities, and improving lives,” he said.

He noted that Julius Berger’s portfolio spans major national projects including bridges, highways, airports, seaports, hospitals, industrial facilities, and other critical infrastructure developments.

“Our journey has always been guided by one principle: building excellence and connecting futures,” Kaita added.

The company also reiterated its commitment to investing in modern engineering solutions, sustainable construction practices, local content development, and advanced technologies such as cold recycling systems aimed at improving infrastructure durability and environmental sustainability.

Julius Berger further stated that its operations continue to contribute significantly to job creation, economic growth, commerce, and improved connectivity across West Africa.

“We are particularly proud that our projects continue to create jobs, stimulate commerce, improve connectivity, and contribute meaningfully to national development. This award will inspire us to do even more,” Kaita said.
